A “favicon”, no big thing.

favicon-gga-2016

If you can see the graphic above, then, you are already thinking out-side of the box.

The “favicon” is the that little graphic icon that shows up next to the web site address you bookmarked for future reference. It is no big thing, in fact, it is a very small thing, 16 pixels by 16 pixels in most web browsers. Not all web sites have a favicon, because, it is “no big thing”. But, just try to design a favicon, that is when the favicon becomes a big thing. The limits of your canvas (16 x 16) prohibit intricacies, so less becomes more. Creating a 16 pixel by 16 pixel graphic that is distinctive and identifiable as a brand is no easy task. Look at the top of your web browser, there is a folder-like-tab that show a favicon and some text that describes the web page in the browser window. Now bookmark that page and the favicon will stay with the bookmark so identifying the bookmark will become easier.
